Mt Pleasant School of Dance is proud to announce the Grand Opening of our BRAND NEW Blackbox Theatre, located in the heart of downtown Mt Pleasant.

Giving back to the dancers and community created at Mt Pleasant School of Dance is paramount to the success of the business. In the Spring of 2025, Artistic Director, Andrea Purrenhage, and Studio Manager, Travis Hunt, constructed a grant with the Mid-Michigan Development Corporation (MMDC) for the immediate construction of a BlackBox Theatre, complete with state-of-the-art lighting, a new sound system, curtains, seating, and more. MMDC presented this grant through the Match on Main initiative, giving businesses in downtown Mt Pleasant the space to grow and create.

Through the Match on Main grant submission, MPSD was awarded a total of $22,756.91.

Mt Pleasant School of Dance is proud to be a member of the Mt Pleasant community. They look forward to hosting events in collaboration with other downtown businesses, creating a space for artists around Michigan to connect, and continuing to teach classes weekly at Mt Pleasant School of Dance.
